Jump Cut 2014 is Recruiting!

 

The festival is looking to expand for next year and we need to increase the team at Jump Cut HQ. While many positions are still being finalised, and applications will not open until July, here's a heads up.

 

You'd be joining a fun, fast-paced, professional team that looks to rapidly expand the festival to become a key platform for filmmakers across the country. We are also looking for fresh-thinking in regard to online platforms for film. Working with us will be a chance to be truly innovative, with expenses paid as well as tools and events funded through fundraising and sponsorship. We'll be looking for candidates with a passion for film and a desire to provide innovative and fun platforms for others, as well as relevant experience and a detailed portfolio & CV.

 

All roles listed are unpaid as we are a volunteer-based not-for-profit festival, but they do offer great experience and exposure, as well as a chance to make really good industry contacts.

Positions Available:

 

Event Technician

Role: Primary contact with venue technicians, responsible for the operating of the Festival Screenings, and additional tech for speakers and acts.

 

 

Candidates need to be confident under pressure, have great communication skills and technical know-how. Candidates must also have good knowledge of Windows and Mac computers, and how they interact with AV kit. Additionally, must be confident with sound equipment (mics and speakers) and digital projectors. Prior experience of event tech is preferable, but not necessary.

Assistant Technical Director

Role: Helping organise the Festival Programme from a technical standpoint and inputting into that process. The Assistant Technical Director will also be helping streamline the submissions process, and enhancing our viral film competition.

 

 

Candidates should be enthusiastic and creative but also interested in film exhibition (including submission to exhibition workflows). An interest in web content and web upkeep would be appreciated but not necessary. Additionally, experience and knowledge of editing software (especially Final Cut Pro) and film formats would be beneficial.

Web Developer

Role: Responsible for building the background systems for our website. Also responsible for improving our email system.

 

 

Candidates should have good experience of building websites, dealing with complex content management systems and is willing to work closely with our designers in order to achieve a great look for the Festival. Experience of blogging platforms and social media integration preferable. Experience of online advertising, Google Apps, Google Adwords, Adsense and Google Analytics is desirable also.

 

 

The role is a great opportunity to increase a portfolio and have work seen by thousands of filmmakers and a huge online online audience. You will be a major part of a large collaborative team seeking to bring great content to thousands of people. You will also get a platform to meet those interested in your work, as well as have a great time at the Festival.
